Grading System

For Records we use the Record Collector set of standards for the condition.

For CDs & Cassettes and DVDs & Videos we use the Amazon standards (with the categories changed to match the products). Books & Magazines use the standard Amazon descriptors.

Press-packs & Posters are described individually.

The condition categories, and a description of what each one means, are listed below.

If you have any further questions, use the contact us link.

Records

MINT (M): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Possibly still sealed. Refer to item description.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

CDs & Cassettes

MINT (M): a brand-new, unused, CD or cassette in perfect condition. May or may not be factory sealed. See description for item.

EXCELLENT (EX): an apparently unplayed CD or cassette in perfect condition (although it may be out of its original wrapping). The jewel case or cassette case is pristine. The inlay notes, inclusions and/or sleeve are in perfect condition. The CD or tape itself is unmarked with no sign of wear.

VERY GOOD (VG): a well-cared-for CD or cassette that has been listened to but remains in great condition and plays perfectly. The jewel case or cassette case may show limited signs of wear, as may the inlay notes and inclusions.

GOOD (G): the CD or cassette plays perfectly but has clear signs of wear. This jewel case or cassette case is undamaged, and original liner notes are in good, unmarked condition

Books & Magazines

Like New: an apparently unread copy in perfect condition. Dust cover is intact, pages are clean and not marred by notes or folds.

Very Good: a copy that has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Good: a copy that has been read but remains in clean condition. All pages are intact and the cover is intact (including dust cover, if applicable). The spine may show signs of wear.

Acceptable: a readable copy. All pages and the cover are intact (dust cover may be missing). Pages can include considerable notes, in pen or highlighter, but notes cannot obscure the text.
